You know the saying ‘ when life gives you lemons, then make lemonade’ right….
Well, life has certainly handed us a pile of lemons lately. Its been a tough couple of weeks as I am sure it has for most people.
All our plans to leave and travel have been shelved. With the FCO now advising against non-essential global travel indefinitely (seriously!!) we have had to go back to the drawing board on how we intend to get to our end goal.
Thankfully that hasn’t changed. We are still on the same page as to what we want, but how we are going to get there is now up for debate.
I have to say that for the first couple of weeks my mindset around all this was not good. I felt angry, sad, depressed, empty….. those ‘what now’ thoughts constantly buzzing around my head.
My business, that I have worked really hard on over the last few years has literally dwindled to nothing overnight. I am creating videos for some clients still, and enthusiastically jumped on the whole ‘putting my classes online’ bandwagon that many fellow trainers were also doing.
Truth is though, that creating videos takes ALOT of work, and whilst I’m not scared of work, the fact is there is so much free content already out there in the fitness domain. The competition is great, and its not a place I want to be sat in at the moment.
Everything caught up with me last week, I had a set back with my autoimmune disease. I also had a migraine, which I haven’t had for a long, long time. It was the sign, the kick up the pants I needed to drag me out of my malaise.
So, slowly I am exploring other options. Asking myself those tough questions about what it is I really want to share with the world.
I also got out in the garden and planted out my little salad garden again. We don’t have much outdoor space that we are able to use where we are at the moment. But, I do have some space to create a salad garden and it has been successful and abundant over the last few years. That and my patio patch of strawberries and herbs.
Being in control again made me feel better. Life is always going to give us lemons, but its what you do with them that is important.
Leave them sitting in the bag ready to rot, or take them out and create something new with them.
I’m opting the the latter!!
